October 8, 2007 ~ Weekly Update #3

October 8, 2007

God has blessed me in so many ways this week. All I can do is stand in awe before Him as I am not deserving of any of His goodness and yet He continues to provide in ways I can't begin to imagine.

Just as I was pushing the ‘send’ button for last weeks update a dear friend informed me that she would loan me the money to pay rent for September. Praise the Lord!

This loan is in addition to the many other debts that I owe and will pay back once the disability case has been resolved. Regardless, September is paid and I am grateful for that. We were also able to make a partial payment for the October rent and for that I am also very grateful.

Sunday I was able to go to church, I was very excited as I hadn’t gone in several weeks. I really do miss being there when I can’t go, the sermons are copied and brought home for me when I’m not there, but it just isn’t the same. By the way, I do go to the greatest church ever, Granada Hills Community Church!

If you or someone you know are looking for a church this would be a great place to start. http://www.granadahillscc.org/

Monday I was able to go to lunch with a wonderful friend, Mary. I didn’t hold up for very long, but she was very patient with me in allowing me to take my time in getting around and then in allowing me to go home early. She had several surprises for me, but one in particular, 3 flameless candles! If you aren’t sure what these are, they are battery operated and I don’t think I could burn the house down with these if I tired. This meant so much to me as I get to enjoy candles again. I don’t even have to wait until Jennie or Ricky are home to light them.

It doesn’t take much to tire me out anymore; just as soon as Mary dropped me off at home I went straight to sleep. When I woke up, another wonderful surprise! A bag had been left at my front door from Michael’sCraft Store. It was filled with fall leaves, gourds, pumpkins, etc… I just found out yesterday that these were left for me by Annette, another fantastic friend and our church secretary.

Tuesday was a blessed day, as are most, but this one especially! There is a wonderful couple who attend my church, Pat & Barbara Casparian. Pat works for an organization you may have heard of, it’s called Children’s Hunger Fund. Every so often they bless us with boxes and boxes and boxes of both perishable and non-perishable food, miscellaneous items such as light bulbs, food storage bags, trash bags and this time we were even given a bag of candy to pass out on Halloween (can you believe that God remembered a little detail like this). When you have a chance please visit their site to see what they are all about and if you are ever given the opportunity, please either donate or volunteer some time to this wonderful organization which has so tremendously blessed my family. http://www.childrenshungerfund.org/

I was also excited as I had the energy to attend the Wednesday evening ‘Bible Study’ with Tony Miano. This is a great time for discussion, and questions and answers in the word of God. I’m not able to attend often, but when I do it’s a wonderful time of learning and fellowship.

Thursday was another very full day for me. I called to inquiry as to the cost of one of my prescriptions and was told that it was $98.00 (this I wasn’t expecting). I called the insurance company and was once again told that my insurance had been cancelled. At this point I was just frustrated, not angry, not upset, I just didn’t understand. I had done everything they (Blue Shield) had asked of me. We had worked out a payment plan that I had followed to the letter, providing them with a large sum up front and then continuing with weekly payments. I gave them the name of the lady that I worked this out with and they said that she had given me incorrect information that they could not honor. I asked if there wasn’t something, anything that I could do to re-establish my insurance. If you know much about insurance, then you know that once you are cancelled they do not reinstate you and this disclaimer is written on all the paper work I have from Blue Shield. They said that if I could get $1,000 to them by Monday that they would re-instate my insurance (I am now paid up until November 1st). Once again, I give the praise and glory to my Heavenly Father for taking care of this situation for me. Prompting me to call when I did and then to provide the finances to pay the bill. Jennie and Ricky had both just been paid and had given me money; if they had done this a day earlier I would have paid another bill.

Thursday evening was a special treat as I was able to go out with another special friend, Eileen. We haven’t seen each other for a couple years so this was a wonderful time of catching up. She too brought a wonderful surprise, only this was a real candle. I will get to burn this only on special occasions when one of the kids is home and willing to supervise.

Because of having such a busy week, I spent most of Friday and all of Saturday in bed. Sunday morning was my next big outing, going to church. How wonderful to live in a country where we have the freedom to come together and worship our Lord.

It’s ridiculous to think what little I have done this week has actually put me to bed for about 4 days. I am most grateful that I have days when I feel good enough to go to church and even a few to go out for a bit with friends.

Well, today I was able to accomplish what I wanted to, which was to send this out. Now it’s back to bed for meJ.

Love to all,

Diana
